From April 6th to 18th, 2026, Instabili Vaganti will be in Argentina with FRONTERAS, a new step of the international project Beyond Borders, dedicated to young actors, dancers and performers of Italian and foreign backgrounds, descendants of people from Emilia-Romagna, from Argentina and Chile.
The step is organized with the support of the Consulta degli Emiliano-Romagnoli nel Mondo and the Italian Cultural Institutes of Buenos Aires and Córdoba, and in collaboration with the associations of Emiliano-Romagnoli in the world active in the cities involved in the tour: TERRA Mar del Plata, U.R.E.R.B.A. – Unione Regionale Emilia-Romagna di Buenos Aires, A.E.R.COR – Associazione Emilia-Romagna di Córdoba, and the Circolo Emiliano-Romagnolo di Mendoza.
Characterized by a strong intergenerational, intercultural and transnational dimension, FRONTERAS presents itself as a structured project combining research, training and production phases, involving young Italian, Argentine and Chilean artists, with public presentations of the work and thematic meetings related to the project. From April 6th to 10th, at the Loris Malaguzzi Institute and Teatro Telón in Mar del Plata, training paths open to local young participants, co-creation processes and public sharings will take place. On April 16th, the workshop Fronteras Globales will be held at Espacio Roseti in Buenos Aires. Meanwhile, the performance Utopie Migranti will be presented on April 11th at the Teatro Auditorium – Sala Payró in Mar del Plata, on April 17th at Galpón de Catalinas in Buenos Aires, and on April 18th at Sindicato de Maravillas in Córdoba.
The performance, created last year within the framework of the Boomerang project promoted by the Consulta degli Emiliano-Romagnoli nel Mondo and presented during the 14th edition of the PerformAzioni Festival in Bologna, is directed by Anna Dora Dorno, with dramaturgy by Italian-Peruvian author and university professor Mario Zanatta, and original music by Italian-Uruguayan composer Joaquin Martínez D’Alessandro. The work explores the collective memory of new generations of descendants of Emilia-Romagna emigrants around the world, investigating the relationship with their origins and the construction of identity. In this new version, alongside the original cast members Rodolfo Fortini, Karla Vera Diaz and Rodrigo Sosa, the performers Ramiro Chogri and Simone Yanisse Espejo Campusano will also be on stage.
This new step of the Beyond Borders project in Argentina confirms Instabili Vaganti’s vocation to create open works based on listening, intercultural dialogue and a continuous global research process. It also strengthens the connection between Emilia-Romagna and its diaspora communities through a cultural project centered on memory, contemporaneity and the active participation of younger generations. The project will continue throughout the year and into 2027 with further national and international stages, including Poland, Spain, Malaysia, Venezuela and Brazil.
