Karla Jaqueline Vera Díaz is a Chilean dancer, performing artist, and choreographer originally from the Chiloé archipelago. Her artistic research spans contemporary dance, traditional practices, circus, and movement arts, exploring the body as a space of memory, identity, and resistance. Trained in Chile, Peru, Ecuador, and Colombia, Karla has developed a path deeply rooted in territorial and social immersion, with a particular focus on African diaspora dances, folk traditions, and ancestral rituals, which she reimagines through a contemporary performative language.
Her creations often emerge from collaborative and interdisciplinary processes, bringing tradition and experimentation into dialogue, giving rise to works such as Ritmos del Mundo and Raíz, in which dance becomes a tool for cultural transmission and the construction of collective memories. A woman, mother, and artist, Karla directs her work toward projects that foster encounters between local and migrant communities, promoting inclusion and intercultural dialogue through movement. Within Beyond Borders she participates as a performer, contributing to the transnational dimension of the project with a bodily practice capable of crossing geographical and cultural borders.
