Mario Zanatta is a playwright, researcher, and university theater professor. Of Peruvian and Italian nationality, his practice lies at the intersection of stage writing, theoretical research, and pedagogy, with a particular focus on creative processes, memory, and metatheatrical dynamics.
The author of numerous award-winning plays presented nationally and internationally, Mario develops a dramaturgy deeply rooted in contemporary times, capable of intertwining the intimate and collective, biography and fiction, political reflection and poetic sensibility. His work explores themes such as absence, migration, family ties, and social transformations, constantly questioning the relationship between writing, stage, and spectator.
In addition to his writing, he teaches theater research and theater history at the Escuela Nacional Superior de Arte Dramático in Lima, guiding young artists on their training and creative journeys. His research also extends to the academic field, with publications dedicated to contemporary dramaturgy, metatheatricality, and theatrical practices in peripheral and migrant contexts.
