Marko Jovanovic (2001) was born and raised in Italy, in the province of Vicenza. His native language is Italian but he’s also fluent in English and Serbian. Since high school, Marko has been training at local theaters and dance companies in Vicenza (Orizzonte Danza) and Padua (Teatro Boxer) and has exprince performing in English-language shows, from A Midsummer Night’s Dream to The Greatest Showman. After that he enrolled in 2020 at Vienna’s English Theatre Academy, and graduated with honors in June 2022. While continuing to perform in English-language plays, he also has had the honor of performing in German at Vienna’s Burgtheater, working with directors such as Martin Kusej, Ivo Van Hove, and Rieke Süßkow. While working as performer he is also improving his directing and editing skills thanks to projects such as Click A Pill, a short film filmed entirely on Zoom based on the Black Mirror series, shot during the lockdown period.
His poem Dedicato a chi sogna l’amore was published in 2020 by Aletti Editore. Studying at VETA helped him discover how to combine mind, body and soul on a professional and personal level. Hence his passion for physical theater and performance art. Marko has been working as a freelancer since 2020 and is constantly looking for original projects in different languages in which he can express his multiple artistic identities.
