Yuki Kawahisa, a native of Japan, is a New York based actor, performing artist who’s main focus
is theatre art.
She has worked with internationally acclaimed theatre directors such as Robert Wilson “SKIN MEAT BONE”, “KOOL Dancing in My Mind” (Guggenheim Museum, Baryshinikov Arts Center, NYC, Akademie der Kunste, Berlin) and Richard Forman (The Bridge Project), and has collaborated with artists with different disciplines in many different forms (including improvisation, sight-specific and immersive theatre).
She has performed her own works and others, internationally. She has written and toured Canada with her solo “The Kimono Loosened” and received very positive reviews throughout Canada and in New York. She has collaborated and performed in Instabili Vaganti’s “In viaggio verso Eutopia” and made her Italian theatre debut.
During pandemic, she continued practicing her craft by creating a project called “HenSin MetaMorPhosis: One Morning Yuki Wake Up and She Was a Bear” and wrote, performed, shoot, edited and streamed one video everyday as a Bear for 560 days.
She has physical training background in Japanese traditional dance, Butoh and Balinese dance,
mask dance and Wayang Klit -Balinese shadow puppet theatre, Tai Chi, Clowning, Suzuki
technic and Viewpoint, and enjoys leading workshops and sharing her trainings and
experiences with fellow artists.
Since October 2021, she has started working with an inclusive theatre company Glad Teater in
Copenhagen and collaborating, devising and performing, training and soon directing their actors
with special needs.
