ATER Fondazione

On 13 January 2020 the ATER FONDAZIONE, formerly known as A.T.E.R. Associazione Teatrale Emilia Romagna, officially came into force.

The Foundation is the mirror of its territory, which sees in the Emilia Romagna Region one of the most fertile and significant experiences of the performing arts sector – both live and reproduced – in terms of proposal, production, consumption and diffusion.

On the strength of its more than fifty-year history of national and international cultural relations, ATER still carries on its original mission – to foster the development and dissemination of live performances – adapting and developing it over the years to the changes and needs of the artistic world and of the performing arts in general, not only in the regional territory but also throughout our country.

Precisely because of its important role in the cultural life of Italy and beyond, the Foundation is a fundamental instrument for the support and promotion of performing arts in general, with particular reference to the realities born in the fertile substratum of the Emilia Romagna Region, with the aim of promoting them and making them known internationally.

With this in mind, the Foundation becomes for its international partners a reference point and a unique platform for a decade of intense cultural exchange and touring activities both regionally and nationally.

At the same time, the Foundation works on its regional territory by coordinating a Regional Multidisciplinary Circuit, which is recognised by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities. The Circuit is made up of numerous theatres in Emilia-Romagna that are managed directly or associated, for which the Foundation is in charge of programming their various seasons (drama, children’s theatre, dance and music). To this end, extremely important is the relationship that the Foundation has succeeded in establishing with the Municipal Administrations on the one hand and with the public on the other, very often reopening or restoring new lustre to formerly and undeservedly forgotten venues.
