The Statute of the Emilia-Romagna Region includes among the objectives of its action the recognition of the emiliano-romagnoli in the world and their communities, as an important component of the regional society, as a resource to be valorised, in order to keep alive the memory of our emigration and to strengthen the links with the countries where they live.
With the approval of Regional Law no. 5 of 2015, it is affirmed as a principle that the Region recognises in the emigrants from Emilia-Romagna in the world, their families, descendants and their communities an essential component of the regional society and an important resource for the economic, social and cultural development of both the Emilia-Romagna region and the territories of settlement, favouring the Region’s international cooperation policies.
Our communities abroad are, therefore, recognised as a fully-fledged component of the regional society and also as an essential element for the Region’s international relations.
