El Telón is a small but vibrant independent theater located at Calle España 1839 in Mar del Plata. It is part of the Atlantic Region Theater Workers’ Association (ATTRA), a collective that brings together actors, technicians, and entertainment professionals in the coastal region. With a capacity of approximately 65 people, this space is designed to host intimate theater productions: chamber theater pieces, experimental performances, stand-up comedy, improvisational performances, and new performing arts, often presented by the independent circuit.
El Telón represents a benchmark for the Mar del Plata cultural scene because it promotes theater beyond the large commercial theaters: here, people experiment, take risks, and prioritize local narratives and authorship. It is a community space: the audience is close and complicit; the barriers between stage and spectator are thin.
