The Italian Cultural Institute in Buenos Aires is the main reference point for the promotion of the Italian language and culture in Argentina. It is an official body of the Italian State and plays a key role in strengthening cultural dialogue between Italy and Argentina through a broad and multidisciplinary program, including events, talks, exhibitions, concerts, film screenings, book presentations, educational activities, and Italian language courses.
Located in the Palazzo Italia, in the center of Buenos Aires, the Institute operates within a context of particular significance for the Italian cultural presence in the country: the same building also hosts the Teatro Coliseo, the Italian Chamber of Commerce, the Buenos Aires branch of the University of Bologna, and the Italian University Consortium for Argentina. This makes it not only an institutional venue, but a true hub for relationships, exchanges, and collaborative projects between the Italian and Argentine cultural worlds.
Founded in 1937, the Institute has established a stable and authoritative presence over time, becoming a key interlocutor for artists, scholars, students, and cultural professionals interested in developing international collaborations. Its activities stand out for their ability to enhance both Italy’s cultural heritage and contemporary expressions, fostering opportunities for dialogue, learning, and exchange among diverse audiences.
Today, the Istituto Italiano di Cultura di Buenos Aires represents a strategic hub of Italian cultural diplomacy in Latin America: a place where culture becomes a tool for connection, mutual understanding, and the building of lasting relationships among communities, artists, and institutions.
