La Guarda Teatro is an independent theater space and performing arts center located in Tampico, in the state of Tamaulipas (Mexico). The theater was created as a forum for research, production, and presentation of contemporary theater, focusing on collaboration between local, national, and international artists and on the promotion of experimental and reflective artistic practices.
The project develops around a platform for cultural and social inquiry, integrating training, archiving, and performing arts with public exhibitions. La Guarda Teatro’s programming explores themes related to territory, human movement, memory, and urban phenomena, such as gentrification and the sensitive connections communities establish with their living spaces.
In addition to presenting performances, the space promotes workshops, collective reflections, and interdisciplinary artistic actions, contributing to the city’s cultural vitality and the creation of creative networks within the Mexican theater scene.
