A form that transcends the form itself, with moving boundaries
Nicola Pianzola
“DISTANCE /ðɪs/dɑːns/ This dance is for you” is a performance resulting from an artistic investigation on the topic of “borders” developed with young international performers selected within the project.
Distance, remoteness, absence, powerlessness in front of an obstructed limit are the feelings that move the bodies of the performers through space, triggering a dialogue with some video creations which results in a dance that balances on those intangible boundary lines that divide us. Every time the performers of the project manage to elude the Distance that separates them to meet in the same physical space and presence the performance gains vitality, due to both the new inspirations that arise and the cultural and artistic backgrounds of the participants in the project. The show is a melting pot of cultures and performative traditions that reaffirm – once more – that borders are imaginary.
Distance is an artistic production created and directed by Instabili Vaganti in collaboration with Ater Fondazione, Accademia Perduta / Romagna Teatri, La MaMa Umbria International and with the involvement of nine foreign partners from Chile, India, Malaysia, USA, Senegal.
