What is EUTOPIA?
Anna Dora Dorno
An ideal and real “good” place in which to found a new idea of theater.
A journey towards Eutopia is one of the performative outcomes of the international research project Beyond Borders, conceived and directed by Instabili Vaganti. The performance aims to overcome the limits imposed by isolation and the closure of borders by building an artistic collaboration on a global scale. Constructed with an innovative method that creates a trans-medial language, the show combines theatre, visual arts and multimedia.
It is an “e-utopian” experiment that involved performers from different parts of the world to work together on the theme of borders, through exchanges and research sessions in different countries of the world (the United States, Spain, Italy, Tunisia, Greece, Senegal, Japan). The video content that shapes the scenography and accompanies the narrative of the performance was created during this process.
An original composition with a cast of actors and dancers from the U.S., Senegal, Japan, Spain, and Tunisia, with the involvement of Nicola Pianzola, playwright of Instabili Vaganti, and Jordi Pérez i Soldevila, of the Catalan company Sargantana, for the dramaturgical writing, and composer Riccardo Nanni, for the original music. It is directed by Anna Dora Dorno, creator of the project, who will also take care of the virtual sets and video dramaturgy of the performance.
