VIDEODANTE # CHILE is a trilogy of web performances realized through an innovative methodology of remote work involving Italian and Chilean artists, on the occasion of the celebration of the 700th anniversary of the death of the renouned Poet.

As an utopian experiment in artistic sharing, it was developed through meetings and remote creative work sessions and involved director Anna Dora Dorno, Universidad de Playa Ancha theater professor Giulio Ferretto, performer Nicola Pianzola, dancer Elena Copelli, Chilean actor Claudio Santana Borquez of Performer Persona Project, and video maker Andrés Hernández Hidalgo, in exploring Dante’s universe. 

Leitmotif of the trilogy was the theme of “travel,” understood as a tension toward the unknown, the unexplored, as a drive to cross the limit, the border, to see what is on the other side of an ocean. Such a guiding suggestion led the artists to investigate some of the mythological figures and references found in Dante’s work, from Icarus to Geryon to the hero of “mad flight”: Ulysses.
